Understand the Bancor Network (BNT) Euro Price
Bancor Network is a DeFi protocol that played a pioneering role in “Automated Market Makers” (AMM). Here you will learn how the Bancor Network price has developed since its 2017 launch, which factors influence the price of the native currency BNT, and how BNT is expected to evolve in the future.Key facts about the Bancor Network price
- Bancor Network is a DeFi protocol and AMM pioneer. It enables crypto asset swaps and liquidity provision without relying on traditional order books.
- BNT, the protocol’s native currency, is strongly influenced by overall DeFi trading volume, competition, and protocol upgrades.
- The tokenomics also impact the Bancor Network price: The BNT supply is elastic, regulated by minting for liquidity provision and deflationary buyback mechanisms.
- The coin’s highest value was recorded on January 9, 2018, at around EUR 8.43. The all-time low is from March 13, 2020, at about EUR 0.10.
- In the fall of 2025, the BNT price remains historically low between EUR 0.46 and 0.72. Market capitalization is around EUR 61 million, ranking BNT 400+ among cryptocurrencies.
- Forecasts for Bancor Network’s price are strongly influenced by overall developments in the DeFi market. Legal disputes are creating additional uncertainty within the ecosystem.
How is the Bancor Network price calculated?
Bancor Network’s tokenomics are somewhat more complex than Bitcoin or other DeFi protocols. Still, the BNT price is market-driven by supply and demand, with supply greatly affected by new ecosystem versions (currently Bancor v3):
- Elastic supply: The BNT token supply is elastic. For “single-sided staking” (depositing only one asset into a pool), the protocol mints tokens as compensation. This model can increase the circulating supply if demand for liquidity provision is high.
- Fees and buybacks (Vortex): To protect against inflation, Bancor Network uses a portion of swap fees to buy back BNT tokens. These are often burned or distributed as rewards.
- Governance and staking: BNT also serves as a governance token, and holders can stake tokens. In return, they receive vBNT, which grants them voting rights within the Bancor DAO.
What influences Bancor Network price?
Founded in 2017, Bancor Network is one of the oldest DeFi protocols and has earned a measure of credibility over the years. Yet, BNT price is still vulnerable to external and internal factors:
- DeFi trading volume: The price of BNT is closely linked to activity in the DeFi market. High trading volume means more swap fees on Bancor, and vice versa.
- Competition and TVL: Bancor Network competes with newer, larger AMMs such as Uniswap or Curve. Lower Total Value Locked (TVL) reduces trading volume and the fundamental value of BNT.
- Upgrades: Introducing new versions (like Bancor v3) or products is crucial. For example, the “Arb Fast Lane” arbitrage bot, launched in fall 2023, created positive momentum as an independent DAO revenue source.
The impact of new features on Bancor Network’s price, both positive and negative, is clearly illustrated by the example of the Impermanent Loss (IL) Protection feature. The announcement of this feature (in v2.1) played a key role in pushing the price up. When it was deactivated in June 2022 during the crypto crash, it triggered a loss of trust and a subsequent drop in price.
Price history: Key events in BNT price development
- October 2025: Current Bancor Network price
After a slight recovery in spring and summer 2025, BNT price remains historically low in fall 2025. After doubling in early May, the price has since moved within a range of EUR 0.46 to 0.72. - 2023 to 2024: Attempts to break out and stabilize
Following further losses in late 2022, Bancor Network price recovered to around EUR 0.50 in early 2023. However, the following two years saw prolonged sideways movement at low levels, mainly between EUR 0.30 and 0.50. Positive spikes such as the “Arb Fast Lane” launch in late 2023 (price climb above EUR 1) or favorable market sentiment in late 2024 (increase to nearly EUR 1) gave short-term price boosts but did not stop the overall downtrend. - 2022: Crypto winter and crisis of confidence
2022 hit Bancor Network hard. Amid the general crypto crash, the protocol faced severe pressure by mid-year. In June 2022, the DAO was forced to deactivate Impermanent Loss Protection, one of the protocol’s core promises, amid the crypto crash. This move created a significant loss of trust and caused the already weak BNT price to plunge further to around EUR 0.46. - 2021: Strong BNT recovery in the bull market
During the crypto bull market of 2021, Bancor Network’s price saw a strong recovery. Fueled by the hype surrounding the DeFi sector, BNT reached several notable interim highs throughout the year, including an increase to nearly EUR 8 in March. However, the price didn’t manage to surpass its peak of 2018. After a temporary gain of 650% over the year, the final annual increase settled at around 180%. - 2019 to 2020: Limited movement and Corona ATL
Both years were typically volatile. Overall, the price doubled between January 2019 and the end of 2020, rising from EUR 0.53 to EUR 1.07. In between, Bancor Network price hit its all-time low of around EUR 0.10 during the COVID crash on March 13, 2020. A strong recovery in the following autumn pushed the price up to EUR 2.22 before another sell-off began. - 2017 to 2018: All-time high and sharp sell-off
After the ICO in June 2017, the Bancor Network price moved mostly within a range of EUR 1.50 to EUR 2.50 for the rest of the year. A bullish trend followed, pushing the price up to its all-time high of around EUR 8.43 on January 9, 2018. However, that peak was heavily sold off, and BNT ended 2018 at approximately EUR 0.57.
Current developments: Forecasting Bancor Network price
In the long term, Bancor Network’s outlook is closely tied to the overall development of the DeFi market. As activity increases, so do fees and DEX volumes, both key drivers of price performance.
In terms of the product, further momentum could come from expanded use and monetization of the Arb Fast Lane, as well as growing adoption of Carbon DeFi, which enhances traditional AMM functionality with order book features designed for new on-chain trading use cases.
At the same time, legal uncertainties are weighing on the project. Bancor Network has a long-running patent lawsuit against Uniswap with an unresolved outcome. In March 2025, a default judgment was issued against the Bancor DAO after investors had sued over the 2022 ILP shutdown and related losses.
